Brothers and Sisters, Spring 1994 in Phoenix.
The JGB only played a few songs that night. They closed ranks around Jerry as they played B&S - then he left the stage not feeling well and did not return.

It wasn't the greatest show to end on, but it was a show! I moved my crazy ass far away after that, no more concerts

my first Jerry song was Scarlet Begonias 9-11-74
my last Jerry song was Stella Blue 10-31-90

A damn fine pair of songs to bookend my sadly limited live Dead experiences.

Casey Jones.

Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones you better watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, you know, trouble behind.
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

Awesome, what a sweet b day it is. Panic this year at Red Rocks, I will be in India, but if you dig them, go go go.

Bruce's B Day is the 25th, I think you might all ready know that.

really? You knew it was true from THAT show? imo that was a helluva show, very good. I saw them a few nights later at Mile High in Denver 6-28-91 and at the time I thought it was just ok because I hate stadium shows. Listening back there were some very fine high points ( no pun intended ).

Liberty, Desert Sky Pavillion, Phoenix AZ 1994.

Saw a bird with a tear in his eye
Walking to New Orleans my oh my
Hey, now, Bird, wouldn't you rather die
Than walk this world when you're born to fly?

If I was the sun, I'd look for shade
If I was a bed, I would stay unmade
If I was a river I'd run uphill
If you call me you know I will
If you call me you know I will

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Say what I mean and I don't give a damn
I do believe and I am who I am
Hey now Mama come and take my hand
Whole lotta shakin' all over this land

If I was an eagle I'd dress like a duck
Crawl like a lizard and honk like a truck
If I get a notion I'll climb this tree
or chop it down and you can't stop me
Chop it down and you can't stop me

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Went to the well but the water was dry
Dipped my bucket in the clear blue sky
Looked in the bottom and what did I see?
The whole damned world looking back at me

If I was a bottle I'd spill for love
Sake of mercy I'd kill for love
If I was a liar I'd lie for love
Sake of my baby I'd die for love
Sake of my baby I'd die for love

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home
I'm gonna find my own way home

Precognition? Who knows, but definitely creepy looking back. All I'm sure of is that I left that show saddened, knowing that what I loved so much was coming to an end. Didn't know when, but I knew the countdown had truly begun.

Not to sound cold but I'm glad I didn't see them after. These shows were rather lackluster and seems like it only got worse.

It was a good time, not the best show, but it had it's moments. I knew things didn't look good, but didn't realize how far gone and how close to being gone he was...

Yo lobster12! You are correct. It's actually a fantastic show for '94 - got lucky on my last one I guess, that "Stella" is a real beauty alright! Never did manage to get a successful "Happy Birthday Jerry" chant going on that night though...

TGIF!! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND BRO!!

your 1994 stella got me thinking, so while i am making dinner this evening I am dabbling with Boston garden 10-1-94. One of the better shows from a down year and has amazing versions of stella and SMR. setlist overall aint too shabby either

lobster12: that was a killer show, hey? Were you there? If yes, it would be great to hear some comments about anything (audience, Jerry, etc.)

It was the last time I got to "miracle" somebody so I didn't get to experience it in-person === "something" special was happening that night --- Jerry opening both sets (Help > Slip > Franklin's) and then ("Scarlet > Fire"), but as you remark, the 1st set "So Many Roads" was one for the ages. That show had to be one of their final "over-the-top" performances.

Later, --- AshesRising

did not attend. 1991 was my only garden run. It got too difficult to get back from Los angeles later on. They really put out the effort that night. Some of this run is sloppy but as 94's go, this gig is pretty good.

Arbuthnot:
...Damn! I had a great day -- out with my two little Godchildren ages 6 and 4-1/2 --- return to my apartment and once again this Forum goes straight to the heart.

(1995-06-22 - Knickerbocker Arena, Albany) BLACK F#CK#NG PETER was literally the last Jerry song, however it was during "Franklin's Tower" when my heart broke.

It was my 15th anniversary of surviving Death at the 1980 Summer Solstice shows in Alaska. It was a long, lonely, silent ride back to Boston that evening in 1995 (coincided with Hunter's 54th B-day as the bells struck midnight). 4-hours of praying to "whatever" that took care of me in Alaska to do the same for Jerry.

Thank you for dropping the live Hunter on my head recently; gotta go listen to it once again after seeing everybody's posts. --- AshesRising
